Amazing Weekend!!

Well this weekend was one of the best I've had in a long time
It's amazing how positive I've been feeling since starting the 12WBT and succeeding with it
About a month ago, my sister and I flew up to the Gold Coast to participate in the Color Run. Due to heavy rains, the run was cancelled and was rescheduled for this weekend
I was so looking forward to doing it, so we booked new flights and went up for a night to run it.

For those who don't know what the Color Run is, it is seriously the happiest 5km fun run on earth!! Well that's how they advirtise it anyways, but I certainly agree!
I have never run/walked a 5km fun run before, but the whole concept of it sounded amazing. It's inspired by the Indian colour festival. At each 1km point, volunteers shower you with different coloured powders, and by the end of it, you are covered head to toe in bright colours! My sister and I ran it with a few friends that we'd met in Europe a few years ago. It was the best day of my life!! I was so proud of myself for being able to jog the majority of the course. I felt fit, I felt happy.

BEFORE:
 AFTER!

I am also very very proud of myself for sticking with the 12WBT while away. We flew in Saturday afternoon, so I had my usual oats for breakfast. We didn't get to the Gold Coast until 2:30pm so by then I was starving. There weren't many healthy options once we got to my friends place, so I bought half a sweet chilli chicken wrap. I wouldn't know how many calories were in it, but to be safe, I factored in about 400 cals for lunch. For dinner, we went out to a place called Groove Train. Their menu looked delicious, and I was so tempted to have a delicious pasta meal, but because I didn't know how many calories lunch was, I settled for a grilled calamari salad with dressing on the side. I have never ever asked for dressing on the side!!! After dinner, we went to Max Brenner. Oh Em Gee!! I have never tried Max Brenner before, and I was going to get what I assumed was the healthiest option...a hot chocolate. After much consideration (the line was huge!) I decided that I wasn't going to get anything. This is huge for me! I am a self confessed chocoholic, and it took a lot of "willpower" for me to say no!

On Sunday (race day) I went out and bought an oats sachet and a banana for breakfast. I didn't want to have a heavy breakfast before running. For lunch I chose a subway Veggie Delite Wrap. I love that Subway provide you with the nutritional info!! I also had a vaalia yoghurt for protein. We had lunch quite late, so my sister and I grabbed dinner from the airport. I was a little nervous because Airport food is reknowned to be quite unhealthy, but luckily for me, there was a sumo salad there. They also provide nutritional info. After browsing the calorice content of each item, I noticed that the pea and asparagus risotto was quite low in calories. I don't know how accurate that is though. I assumed that risotto would be quite high in calories, however I chose a small serve of it anyways. According to their nutritional panel, a small serve was only 107 calories!! I also had a small, freshly squeezed strawberry, mango, watermelon and orange juice. I probably ate less than 1200 calories, however I liked that I was in control and always opted for the healthiest options.

I have not felt this good in a long time, and I cannot wait until week 11 when I head off to Europe looking amazing! This week is the 4 week mini milestone, and my goal was to lose 3kg and weigh 81.2kg. At last weeks weigh in, I weighed 81.4kg, so I'm sure that I am going to kill it!! I am so excited to get under 80kgs!

  1. How fantastic! I did the Color Run in Melbourne last year and it was crazy good fun. You did so well with your eating while away too. Go you!
